On May 18, 2020, Community Builders of Kansas City, the area’s largest urban core developer, announced that it would become the owner / operator of the Sun Fresh on Blue Parkway, one of the few full-service supermarkets east of Prospect Avenue, following the retirement of the current operator.

What Happened
In the spring of 2020, Community Builders of Kansas City began negotiations with the current operator of the Sun Fresh on Blue Parkway to initiate a transition to CBKC as owner/operator in order to preserve this essential grocery resource for the urban community and to develop it over time into a best-in-class supermarket offering a quality shopping experience.The parties agreed to a June 30, 2020 transition date at which time CBKC takes ownership of Sun Fresh on Blue Parkway and begins the laying the ground work for the store’s future.
